Beach Cleaning Event at Ombak Mati Beach to Celebrate World Cleanup Day 2022
Jepara, 16th September 2022 – PT Bhumi Jati Power (BJP) and PT Bhumi Jepara Service (BJS) held Beach Cleaning Event on Friday 16th September 2022 at Ombak Mati Beach, Bondo Village, Bangsri Sub-District, Jepara Regency. This event was conducted to commemorate the World Cleanup Day 2022 and became one of the environmental conservation programs from BJP/BJS as the company’s contribution to surrounding community to keep the health and clean environment.
The event was attended by around 100 participants from employees of BJP/BJS and various Stakeholders including Jepara Environmental Agency (DLH Jepara), Bondo Village Government, Bhumi Lestari Waste Bank, Tourism Awareness Group from Bondo Village (Kelompok Sadar Wisata/Pokdarwis), Community Surveillance Group from Bondo Village (Kelompok Masyarakat Pengawas/Pokmaswas), Tanjung Java Youth Organization (Karang Taruna Tanjung Java), Disaster Prepared Friends (Sahabat Siaga Bencana/Shabana), college students of IAIN Walisongo Kudus, and Ombak Mati’s Volunteer.
The event was started by the speech of BJP Management, subsequently by representative of DLH Jepara, and continued with a symbolic handover of 6 sets of segregated waste bins from BJP/BJS to Bondo Village Government and Pokdarwis and Pokmaswas. The segregated waste bin will be installed along Ombak Mati Beach for the purpose to raise community awareness of the importance of cleanliness and to be trigger to start sorting the organic and inorganic waste to ease the disposal and recycle process.
Mr. Hermawan as the representative of DLH Jepara reminded the importance of keeping the environment, “We must be wise with our own waste, and should not litter because the waste will harm the environment.”
Thereafter, Mr. Hadi Suwasono as the Site Project Manager of BJP, expressed his appreciation for BJP/BJS employees and all stakeholders who supported the Beach Cleaning event, “Today event is our initial step to clean the environment, It is not how much garbage is collected, but rather to raise our awareness of the danger of the waste which can pollute the earth and encourage to everyone that cleanness of our surrounding environment is everyone responsibility and contribution”
In 2022, the peak of World Cleanup Day event was drop on 17th September 2022. Nevertheless, in Indonesia, led by Ministry of Environmental and Forestry, the series of the cleaning event and activity have been conducted from 10th September 2022 to 25th September 2022. The World Cleanup Day itself is one of the largest social movements in the world which mobilizes people in many countries to clean-up the earth from the waste. The event has purpose to unite the global community and raise awareness and make changes in realizing action for a clean and healthy earth.
