BJP Boosting Innovation Among Students in Jepara Regency through the Jepara Innovation Award (JIA) Program


Jepara, 18th February 2025 – PT Bhumi Jati Power (hereinafter “BJP”) successfully conducted the series of events for the Jepara Innovation Awards (“JIA”) Program, which began on 4th December 2024 and ended on 18th February 2025. This agenda was held by PT Bhumi Jati Power in cooperation with Universitas Islam Nahdlatul Ulama (“UNISNU”) Jepara and getting further support from The Regional Development Planning, Research, and Innovation Agency (“BAPPERIDA”) Jepara.

The JIA program is designed to provide innovation scholarships to students through an innovation competition event in Jepara. Furthermore, this program also aims to raise the innovation spirit among young students and encourages them to think creatively, ultimately leading students to develop the prototypes of their ideas.

The committee received 103 proposals submitted by participants from 42 senior high schools in Jepara. Then, the committee, together with the judges, assessed and selected 40 proposals to continue with the next step and attend a workshop. From these 40 proposals, the best 12 finalists were selected to showcase their innovative prototypes in the grand final. Following that, on 18th February 2025, the top 6 champions of the JIA program were assessed and determined collaboratively by BJP, UNISNU, BAPPERIDA, and the judges.

During the event, Mr. Abdul Djamil, Rector of UNISNU Jepara, also expressed his appreciation to the BJP for collaborating in community empowerment through the JIA Program. In his speech, Mr. Abdul Djamil emphasized that this competition could bring widespread benefits to society through the innovative discoveries of Jepara's younger generation. The JIA Program shows that the people of Jepara, especially students, can continue to innovate in life and not give up on their future. "Through this program, it will inspire the younger generation to make the innovations which can support the community groups such as fishermen and farmers in the Jepara area."

Mr. Hasanudin Hermawan, Head of BAPPERIDA of Jepara Regency, also expressed his appreciation for BJP’s support in holding the JIA Program. This demonstrates that Jepara still fosters creative ideas and an innovative spirit, which can be developed to tackle future challenges by the young generation. "We look forward to continuing the competition program, so it can keep providing valuable benefits to the people of Jepara in the future. "

On the other hand, the Project Company Representative of BJP, Mr. Hadi Suwasono, in his speech, stated that this program is part of BJP’s CSR commitment, aligned with the CSR pillar "BJP Bright" in the field of education. Mr. Hadi also mentioned that this collaboration with BAPPERIDA of Jepara Regency and UNISNU aims to continually encourage high school students to innovate and develop new innovations. "It is hoped that through the JIA Program, there will be a positive impact on the younger generation in Jepara. The participants in this competition will become a source of pride for the future and will continue to contribute creatively to the country and nation, particularly in the Jepara Region".

The enthusiasm for the JIA Program was clearly evident, not only by visitors but also by the best 12 participants, who eagerly explained their innovative prototype to the attendees. At the end of the agenda, the participants present their innovative prototypes and demonstrate their public speaking skills in front of the judging panel to secure the championship.

Based on the judges' appraisal, the top 6 winners were as follows:

  1. 1st Place: Banana Coating: Chitosan Coating Agent Innovation from Crab Shells and Parijoto Flavonoids as a Strategy to Extend Shelf Life of Bananas, by Palupi Putik Ramadhani and team from Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 1 Jepara
  2. 2nd Place: SIFTer (Smart IoT Farming and Technology for Efficient Resources) in Agriculture and Food, by Basu Dewa Kresna D.A.H Putra and team from SMA Negeri 1 Donorojo.
  3. 3rd Place: SIPARTO KUAT (Integrated Automatic Parking System for Public Vehicles with License Plates), by Diah Novita Syarifah and team from SMA N 1 Pecangaan.
  4. 1st Runner Up: Pinbio (Pinus Innovative Biodiesel): Biodiesel Innovation Based on Pine Fruit (Pinus Merkusii) as an Eco-friendly Renewable Energy Solution, by Nakhisatul Laizka Agustina and team from Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 1 Jepara.
  5. 2nd Runner Up: Physics Webtoon: Digital Comic as a Learning Media for Modern Physics to Support Education for Sustainable Development Goals, by Tyfannia Adinda Keyzya and team from SMA Muhammdiyah 2 Mayong.
  6. 3rd Runner Up: NANO CELL-HYDROTON: Nanocellulose Technology from Jepara Furniture Wood Waste as Hydroton Planting Media, by Shifa Nur Intania and team from Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 1 Jepara.

In the end, the JIA program does not officially conclude here, whereas the top 12 proposals will proceed to participate in the Provincial Student Competition in the next couple of months. The initiative will be led by BAPPERIDA, a government representative with support from the BJP. Additionally, the BJP remains committed to increasing the innovation spirit among students in the Jepara Regency through the Education and Training Pillar, which is expected to carry significant value in promoting innovation to address global issues, with a particular focus on tackling challenges within the Jepara area.
