PT Bhumi Jati Power Sparks Learning Spirit through “BJP Goes to School” at SMPN 5 Jepara

PT Bhumi Jati Power (BJP) together with PT Bhumi Jepara Service (BJS) demonstrated the company’s strong commitment to the Education and Training Pillar through the “BJP Goes to School Program” at SMPN 5 Jepara, which was successfully conducted on Thursday, September 4, 2025.

The event was enthusiastically attended by 70 students and 10 teachers, who actively participated in a series of interactive learning sessions designed to strengthen environmental awareness. SMPN 5 Jepara was chosen as the first target of the BJP Goes to School Program as a part of the BJP’s commitment to accompany and support the school in participating in the  Adiwiyata Program assessment at the provincial level.

During the session, the BJP & BJS team, which consisted of the CSR Department, Environmental Section, and Operation Department, shared general knowledge related to the overview of a coal-fired power plant, emissions, B3 Waste (Toxic and Hazardous Materials), energy efficiency, rainwater harvesting installation, and waste handling management.

The material was delivered interactively, encouraging students to ask questions and discuss various issues, especially related to environmental issues that happened in Jepara.

In addition to knowledge sharing, BJP and BJS also provided practical support facilities to SMPN 5 Jepara, such as a waste chopping machine, segregated waste collection bin, and energy-efficient LED lights and solar panels. This facility is expected to encourage schools to implement the Adiwiyata Program while also teaching students practical ways to protect the environment.

Mr. Ari Wibawa, as the BJP CSR Manager stated that for this BJP Goes to School program has purpose to increase the student’s awareness related to environmental preservation and encourage the students to implement energy efficiency in their daily life “We choose SMPN 5 Jepara as our first BJP Goes to School Program location considering that the school has proven their good way in handling waste through innovation products made from waste. We believe that it is very important to start using energy efficiently and have environmental awareness in daily life. We want to encourage the people, including students, to pay more attention to environmental preservation,” Ari Wibawa said.

Mr. Edy Suyanto, as the headmaster of SMPN 5 Jepara, conveyed his gratitude to BJP/BJS for the opportunity. “We hope that the support of equipment from BJP/BJS will help the students to easily manage the plastic waste, which has previously become a waste problem, and increase the students’ awareness of the environmental damage,” He stated.

In that moment, the BJP/ BJS team had the opportunity to visit SMPN 5’s creative workshop, which produces innovative products made from waste material. The workshop is designed to trigger creativity and innovation in the students, enabling them to develop their skills and knowledge.

Through the BJP Goes to School Program, BJP affirms its commitment to support the development of an environmentally conscious young generation. BJP hopes that this activity will not only stop in the classroom but also inspire students to become agents of change in realizing a more sustainable lifestyle, both at school, at home, and in the community.

BJP plans to have a similar program to another school with various learning themes and involving other BJP and BJS employees as the presenters.
