BJP Received Appreciation from Jepara Regent for Empowering Coastal Communities During Seaweed Harvest


Jepara – On 26 June 2025, the Regent of Jepara, Mr. Witiarso Utomo, joined the seaweed harvest in Bondo Village, Bangsri District, Jepara Regency, which was held by Jaya Samudra Group, a group fostered by PT Bhumi Jati Power (BJP).

The event was also attended by the Chairman of Jepara Council (DPRD Jepara), Mr. Agus Sutisna, Project Company Representative of BJP, Mr. Hadi Suwasono, Head of Fishery Agency of Jepara Regency, Mrs. Elida Farikha, Head of Brackish Aquaculture Fisheries Centre Jepara (BBPBAP Jepara), Mr. Supito, and all members of Jaya Samudra Group. During the event, which was held under the program Srawung Bupati (Meet the Regent) with the theme "Increasing Seaweed Production, Encouraging the Welfare of Jepara’s Coastal Communities", the Jepara Regent praised the BJP for its strong commitment and contribution to empowering coastal communities through its seaweed cultivation program.

In addition to participating in the seaweed harvest, the Jepara Regent and Chairman of DPRD Jepara were also involved in the process of installing seaweed seeds and drying the harvest. It is estimated that around 175 tons of wet seaweed, or 17.5 tons of dried seaweed, were successfully harvested, with the market selling price reaching IDR 15.000/kg for dried seaweed. The dried seaweed is planned to be distributed to the company in East Java Province.  

"I would like to express my gratitude and appreciation to the BJP, which has shown its commitment to supporting the economy of coastal communities. The synergy between corporate, government, and community is needed to realize a coastal economy based on local potential. We hope that the seaweed cultivation program becomes one of the signature programs from Jepara Regency, which can encourage economic growth in the coastal community, and we are now targeting additional areas of seaweed cultivation in Bondo from the existing area of 20 Hectares to be wider," said the Regent.

The seaweed cultivation program has entered its third year and has shown significant expansion with the total line increment from 230 lines to more than 370 lines. This number increment is expected to boost the seaweed production capacity. The chairman of Jaya Samudra Group, Mr. Bambang, stated his believe that the seaweed cultivation program will be more successful with the support of the Jepara Government.

“We believe that the seaweed cultivation program will be more and more successful with the support of Jepara’s Government, and we also hope for additional equipment support to strengthen the capacity of the group, “Mr. Bambang Said.

Jaya Samudra Cultivation Group started the seaweed cultivation program at the end of 2022 with the collaboration between the BJP and BBPBAP Jepara. The group has become one of the most successful models of community empowerment, leveraging local potential.

The Seaweed cultivation program is one of the CSR sustainable programs from BJP to the community, with the expectation to increase the community’s welfare as the company’s contribution to the surrounding community,” said Project Company Representative BJP Hadi Suwasono.  

For additional information, this year, the BJP was honoured with the TOP CSR Award 2025, which was held by Top Business Magazine, with 4 Stars for the CSR Program category by the theme The Seaweed Sustainable Cultivation Program, or abbreviated as SEAS-PRO.  Top Business Magazine itself has initiated the event since 2017 in collaboration with the Ministry of Environmental and Forestry and several CSR expertise institutions in Indonesia.
